Migraine
Research
Our migraine research team started as a research
project seeking to discover the underlying biological cause for migraines. The
culmination of many years of migraine research resulted in the development
of the first migraine prevention product that directly addresses the natural
cause of migraines.
This research brought about a new understanding as to how the migraine
syndrome works and provided refreshingly new answers to the question of what
happens in the body to cause a migraine. In addition,
this research revealed the patterns of migraines at various stages in life and
why migraines occur at certain times of the day.
In collaboration with migraine studies from universities and hospitals
around the world, our team was able to define the factors involved in migraines,
including:
- The migraine
condition is inherited as a gene found within the mitochondria of specialized
cells that are capable of producing hormones. In other words, the migraine syndrome
is an inherited condition, most likely
on the maternal side. The migraine syndrome can skip generations and therefore
it may be difficult to pinpoint other family members with the migraine syndrome.
- The word hormone
is derived from a Greek word that means to "set in motion." Just prior to and
during the occurrence of a migraine, specialized hormones
called "messenger hormones" are active in the
body giving commands for the production of other hormones including progesterone,
estrogen, and androgen. This
hormone activity triggers the migraine syndrome that causes the headaches. For
this reason many migraines are cyclical in relation to the hormonal rhythms of
the body. Both female and male bodies have the same hormones in differing proportions.
- Migraines are associated
with the release of the chemicals CGRP and CGMP (inflammatory neuropeptides)
which cause vasodilation in the blood streams especially those that surrounds
the trigeminal nerves in the head. It is for this reason that the head
hurts when the migraine syndrome is triggered. CGRP is created (syntheses)
as a chemical reaction between nitric oxide and other elements.
- External and
internal triggers set into motion chemical reactions (i.e. production of CGRP)
that result in headaches. Triggers contain or stimulate the production of the
basic elements needed to start a migraine. Nitric Oxide, along with certain amino
acids including, L-tyramine and L-arginine, are often seen as major triggers
of migraines. Many foods, drinks, medications and other products become triggers
by elevating nitric oxide levels in the body.See Triggers for
more information.
- Because both the
male and female body contains the exact same types of hormones at differing proportions
relative to the gender and the migraine gene is found in the DNA of both sexes
and specific gland activity controls the hormone production in both sexes, migraines
occur in both sexes in relatively the same way and for the same reasons.
Life Stages and Cyclical Events. Ultimately our research
focused on the relationship between the hormone secretions from the pituitary
gland and the resulting occurrence of migraines. It is the pituitary gland that
controls many life stages and cyclical events of the body, including hormones
to start puberty (generally the starting time of migraines), a woman’s
monthly menstrual cycle and pregnancy, reproductive functions, and eventually
menopause for men and women alike. See Migraine
Stages and Patterns.
Our evidence from numerous studies demonstrated that these events coincide
with migraine occurrences which, as most women already know, demonstrate that
migraines are related to hormone changes or fluctuations in the body or more
significantly related to hormones controlled by the pituitary gland. Even though
these changes are controlled by the pituitary gland, the gland itself is not
the problem.
In can be concluded that a specialized formula, such as Migraine Defense,
that is designed to control the factors proceeding a migraine can effectively
be used to control or prevent the onset of a migraine headache for both males
and females. Tests have proven this to be true for the formula used in Migraine
Defense.
In order to understand the process of migraines, you first need to realize
that you get migraines because of a particular gene you inherited. It is that
gene that affects the way your body manages hormone fluctuations. Although this
is easier to see in the case of women, it holds true for men as well.
After years of research we created the Migraine Occurrence Model (MOM).
It
was this model that helped map the path to our discovery of how migraines could
be prevented. We had long suspected that in order to get migraines a person must
inherit a gene in the DNA from the maternal side of the family. This gene, methylenetetrahydrofolate
reductase gene (MTHFR) variant C677T, has been identified as the one that
influences susceptibility to migraines.
This
gene is found in the mitochondria of specific hormone-producing cells that receive
their "production orders" from the pituitary gland by way of hormone-receptors
located on the membranes of these cells. These orders come in the form of protein
hormones called glycoproteins. For example, the luteinizing hormone (LH), and
follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) instruct cells to produce either progesterone,
estrogen, or testosterone.
Problem. It
is within the cells that contain the MTHFR gene that the migraine syndrome begins
when they cause the synthesis of an adverse neurochemical to be released into
the blood stream.
This neurochemical
called CGRP is what causes the dilation of the blood vessels in the trigeminal-vascular
system that makes the head hurt. This combination of nerves and blood vessels
is located on both sides of the head and extends likewise behind the eyes and
into the face.
Pain. As
the blood vessels intertwined with the nerve endings begin to dilate and swell,
the inner-lining of the vessel begins to ooze a chemical through the thin vessel
walls. This is why the headache pain seems to move from around the temple area
forward to the eyes. This chemical actually stimulates the nerve endings to secrete
powerful blood vessel dilators that turn on a violent chain reaction that continues
to apply throbbing pressure on the nerve endings that is felt as the painful
lightening-like pinching of a migraine headache.
Temporary Relief. Triptans, such as Imitrex, constrict (shrink)
these dilated blood vessels to relieve the pressure and abort the migraine. These
drugs are designed to stop the pain, but do nothing to prevent the return of
another migraine.
Tuliv research on the cause
of migraine led to a solution for the prevention of migraines. By identifying
the natural cause of migraines we were able to produce a natural product to reduce
and prevent the occurrences of migraines.
You can benefit from this research by changing your approach toward migraine
prevention which may include taking a proactive approach
by trying Tuliv Migraine Defense.
is the
only anti-migraine product that builds a natural defense system in your body
to keep migraines from occurring.
Migraine Defense neither adds to nor depletes the body of any hormones. The
purpose of Migraine Defense is to manage the problem that causes migraines. Therefore,
Migraine Defense is safe for use by men, women, and children.
